Artist Statement
Anya is a writer and studio artist who has a variety of interests in sculpture, bookmaking, poetry, and drawing. Their work investigates the relational logics that people use to organize sensory perception, and how that informs the social architectures they move through in everyday life. They are specifically intrigued by bookmaking, a process that allows the viewer to co-create third spaces through physical interactions with an art object.
Anya earned their BFA in Three-Dimensional Studies and English Literature from Messiah University in 2022 and will graduate with their MFA in Multidisciplinary Art from MICA’s Mt. Royal School of Art in 2027. When they’re not working on their various projects they are probably cooking Thai food, editing yet another passion project, rewatching Star Trek for the twentieth time, or harassing their beautiful cats.
