Anybody Anywhere is a Jacob’s Ladder book about masking, performing womanhood, and what we do to survive in the world. The piece can be displayed as a fan-like sculpture supported by interlacing strings and lace, interacted with like a standard book, or unfolded as a fully-functional Jacob’s Ladder. Inspired by Donna William’s book Somebody Somewhere, it questions whether white femininity facilitates personality or imprisons it.
The piece was included in the Art Association of Harrisburg’s 93rd Annual International Juried Show and Messiah University’s student juried exhibition in 2021.
